1. About this policy
bessbet.com (the "Website") is operated under the Bess Bet brand. In this policy, "Bess Bet", "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator of the Website, which decides how and why your personal information is used and is responsible for it.
This policy explains what personal information we hold about you when you visit the Website, open an Account, play, pay or talk to us. It also explains what we do with it, who sees it, and the choices you have.
It forms part of your agreement with us under the Terms of Service. Words with capital letters, such as "Account" and "Services", mean the same here as they do there.
It does not cover websites, apps, wallets or services run by other people, even where the Website links to them or shows their content. They handle your information under their own policies.
2. What we collect
When you open an Account you give us:
- your email address;
- the username you choose;
- a password, which we store only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read;
- your country of residence; and
- any promo or referral code you enter.
When we carry out an identity check we may ask for and keep:
- your full legal name and date of birth;
- your home address or city;
- the type, number and an image of a government-issued identity document, and a photo of you where a match is needed;
- proof of address; and
- documents that show where your funds or wealth come from.
When you move money we record:
- the deposit addresses we issue to you and the wallet addresses you withdraw to;
- the amount, currency, network, time and transaction reference of every deposit and withdrawal; and
- your balances and any bonus funds.
When you play we record every bet, game round, Lootbox opening, sportsbook ticket, Pick’em entry, prediction market position and Crypto Futures or Stock Perps contract, with its stake, result and time. We also record the promotions, rewards and VIP benefits you receive, and whether you joined through an affiliate.
When you visit or sign in we collect from your device:
- your IP address and the approximate location it indicates;
- your browser, device type, operating system and language;
- the times you sign in, and failed sign-in attempts; and
- the requests your device makes to the Website, such as the pages and games you open.
When you contact us we keep the conversation: Live Support chats, emails, complaints, and anything you attach.
If you ask for a limit, a break or self-exclusion, we keep a record of the request and of how we applied it.
We also receive information about you from others:
- identity verification, sanctions screening and fraud prevention providers;
- blockchain analytics providers and public blockchain records;
- game studios and other product suppliers, who tell us the result of each round or bet;
- the affiliate whose link or code you used; and
- regulators, law enforcement and other public sources.
We do not ask for information about your health, beliefs or other sensitive matters. An identity document may reveal some of it, and you may choose to tell us about a gambling problem. We use that information only to verify you or to protect you.
3. How we use it
To provide the Services under our agreement with you, we use your information to:
- open, secure and run your Account;
- take deposits, pay withdrawals and keep your balance correct;
- accept, record and settle your bets, and pay rewards, bonuses and VIP benefits;
- answer your questions and resolve complaints; and
- send you service messages about your Account, your security and changes to our terms.
To meet our legal duties, we use it to:
- confirm your age, identity and location;
- prevent money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions breaches;
- apply the limits, breaks and self-exclusions that protect players; and
- keep the records the law requires and answer lawful requests from authorities.
Where it is in our legitimate interests, and those interests are not outweighed by yours, we use it to:
- detect and stop fraud, collusion, bonus abuse, multiple accounts and attacks on the Website;
- check that games, odds and markets are working fairly;
- understand how the Website is used, so that we can fix faults and improve it; and
- bring or defend legal claims and enforce the Terms of Service.
With your consent, or where the law otherwise allows it, we use your email address to send you offers and news. See “Marketing” below.
Some of this work is done by automated systems. Based on patterns in play, payments, devices and location, they can decline a bet, pause a withdrawal for review, or flag an Account for an identity check. If an automated decision has a significant effect on you, you can ask for a person to review it.
If you do not give us information that we need by law or to run your Account, we may be unable to open your Account, take your bets or pay a withdrawal.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not let other companies use it to advertise their own products to you.
4. What other people can see
Bess Bet has public features. Live bet feeds, leaderboards, winners’ showcases, races and challenges can show your username, or a shortened form of it, next to the game or event, your stake, your multiplier and your payout.
Choose a username that does not identify you. If you want your play to stay private, do not use your real name, your email address or a name you use elsewhere.
We never show your email address, identity documents, wallet addresses or balance to other players.
If you joined through an affiliate, the affiliate can see limited information about the players they referred, such as when a referred player signed up and the commission their play produced. Affiliates do not receive your email address, identity documents or wallet addresses.
5. Crypto and public blockchains
Deposits and withdrawals are made on public blockchains. Every transaction, with its sending and receiving addresses, amount and time, is published on the network and can be seen by anyone, permanently.
We do not control those networks. We cannot hide, change or delete a transaction once it has been broadcast, and your rights to correction and deletion do not extend to it.
Anyone who knows one of your wallet addresses may be able to link it to your other transactions. If that matters to you, take it into account when you choose which wallets to use.
We and our providers check wallet addresses and transactions against blockchain analytics to meet our anti-money laundering and sanctions duties.
We will never ask for your private keys or recovery phrase. Anyone who does is not Bess Bet.
8. Marketing
We send offers, promotions and news by email and by notices on the Website only if you have agreed, or where the law lets us contact existing customers about similar services.
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out through Live Support on the Website. Opting out does not stop service messages about your Account, your security or changes to our terms.
We do not send marketing to players who are self-excluded or on a break.
9. Where your information is processed
We and our providers operate in more than one country. Your information may be stored and processed outside the country where you live, including in places whose data protection laws differ from yours.
When we transfer information across borders we put safeguards in place where the law requires them, such as contract terms that commit the recipient to protect it.
10. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your Account is open.
After your Account is closed we keep identity, payment and play records for as long as anti-money laundering, gambling and tax laws require. That is typically at least five years.
We keep records of self-exclusion and other safer gambling measures for as long as they are needed to enforce them, which can be longer than the period above.
We keep information that relates to a complaint, dispute or investigation until it is finally resolved.
When we no longer need information we delete it or make it anonymous. Copies in backups are overwritten on their normal cycle. We may keep statistics that cannot identify you.
11. How we protect it
We protect personal information with measures that include:
- encryption of data as it travels between your device and the Website;
- passwords stored only in hashed form;
- temporary lock-outs after repeated failed sign-ins;
- access limited to staff who need it for their work; and
- monitoring for unusual activity on Accounts and on our systems.
No system is completely secure, and information you send over the internet is sent at your own risk. If we learn of a breach that is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
You can help keep your Account safe:
- use a password you do not use anywhere else;
- sign out when you finish, especially on a shared device;
- never share your password, and never leave your Account signed in where a minor could use it; and
- tell us through Live Support on the Website at once if you think someone else has accessed your Account.
We will never ask for your password.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, the law may give you the right to:
- see the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have information deleted when we no longer have a reason to keep it;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to a use that relies on our legitimate interests;
- receive the information you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw a consent you have given; and
- stop marketing at any time.
To use any of these rights, contact us through Live Support on the Website. We will ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not give your information to someone else.
We aim to answer within 30 days. We do not charge for a request unless it is clearly unfounded or excessive.
These rights have limits. We cannot delete records that the law requires us to keep, such as identity checks, transactions and play history, and a request for deletion does not lift a self-exclusion. If we cannot do what you ask, we will tell you why.
Closing your Account stops new information being collected. It does not by itself erase the records described under “How long we keep it”.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
13. Under 18s
The Services are for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, or under the legal gambling age where they live if that is higher.
If we find that an Account belongs to a minor we will close it, as the Terms of Service describe, and delete the information we are not required to keep.
If you believe a minor has used the Website, contact us through Live Support on the Website.
14. Changes to this policy
The version number and date at the top of this page show when this policy last changed.
When we make a material change we will tell you before it applies, for example by a notice when you sign in or by email. If you keep using the Services after a change takes effect, the changed policy applies to you.
15. Contact us
For any question about this policy or about your information, contact us through Live Support on the Website.
